About Us

Head Facilitator

Hello, my name is Angelia Bass and I would like to introduce myself.  I am the support groups creator and head facilitator. I have 25 years of dispatching experience working in law enforcement and fire/EMS.

The idea for this support group came after I attended an APCO conference where I listened to speakers talk about topics like self-care, vicarious trauma, staffing shortages, management issues just to name a few.  While I realized that the topics were helpful, I also realized that there was no outlet for discussion.  No real resolution to the problems we face on the job every day.

I decided that I would come up with a way to let emergency operators connect with other operators to share experiences, seek assistance, offer support and network.  Hence, A Light in the Dark Emergency Operator Peer Support Group was created.

Mission

To create a caring group atmosphere that allows all members to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe supportive and respectful environment

Vision

Help members establish self-care and wellbeing through sharing and caring for each other
